FAQ: TJA Files, Taiko Charts & the Free Plan

TaikoForge FAQ: what TJA is, supported audio, where to play your Taiko charts, osu!taiko export, the free plan (5 songs a month), copyright and video.

What is TaikoForge?

TaikoForge is an online AI tool that turns any song into a Taiko no Tatsujin–style TJA chart. You can play it in the browser or export a 1080p gameplay video.

What is a TJA file?

TJA is the chart format commonly used by Taiko simulators — a plain-text file that records the timing of every note (don/ka) and each difficulty. TaikoForge outputs standard TJA that you can import into popular Taiko simulators.

What audio formats are supported?

Common formats like MP3, WAV, OGG, FLAC and M4A all work, and you can also drop in video files such as mp4/mkv (the audio track is extracted automatically). Uploads are converted to OGG for processing.

Where can I play the generated charts?

Play it on TaikoForge's online player with the keyboard (D, F, J, K), or download the TJA and put it in a Taiko simulator that supports TJA, such as Taiko-web or TJAPlayer.

Can I export to osu!taiko format?

Not at the moment. TaikoForge only outputs TJA (the plain-text chart format used by Taiko simulators); there is no osu!taiko (.osu) export.

Is TaikoForge free?

Yes. The free plan lets you chart 5 songs a month with no credit card. Upgrade to a paid plan when you need more credits, one-click multi-difficulty or the priority queue; it is a monthly subscription you can cancel anytime.

TaikoForge uses your audio only to analyze rhythm and generate charts. It does not publicly distribute your audio files, and charts are AI-generated. You must own or have the right to use the music you upload.

Can it generate gameplay videos?

Yes. Pick a chart and difficulty and it renders a 1920×1080 gameplay video with hit sounds — you can even stack several difficulties in one frame and add a background and fade in/out.

How long does it take, and do I need to install anything?

Most songs take under a minute to generate. No installation needed; everything runs in your browser.

How do I add a custom chart to OpenTaiko or TJAPlayer3?

Put the .tja and audio file in the same folder, then place the whole folder in the simulator's song directory and reload the song list. The filename in the WAVE field must exactly match the audio file, including the extension.

What should I do if the TJA chart is out of sync with the music?

If the offset is constant from start to finish, it is an OFFSET issue; if the gap grows over time, it is a BPM issue. If hit sounds are late, increase OFFSET; if they are early, decrease OFFSET.

Can I edit an AI-generated chart?

Yes. In the charting history, click "Edit," then use the chart editor to drag notes, change note types, extend rolls, and mark GOGO sections. Save when done — the download will contain the edited version.

Can I add lyrics to a chart?

Yes. The lyric aligner lets the AI listen to the audio and time the lyrics you paste, writing them as TJA's #LYRIC. It can also import or export SRT subtitles.
